Mahibeej

Mahi Beej means the second day of the Maha month of the Hindu calender. Mahi Beej generaaly falls between 15th January to 15th February. Mahi Beej is celebrated as the Pragatya day of the Paramguru Karunasagar Maharajshri. The Pragatya day-Mahi Beej is the first day of the Kuver Samvat and thus it becomes the New Year Day. The main celebration of the Mahi Beej takes place at the Pragatya Bhoomi, Bal Kuver Mandir. The celebration starts with Mangala Aarti in the morning at 5 A.M. and finishes with Podhan Aarti in the evening. In the afternoon, the Acharya Maharajshri reads & explains the Pragatya Katha from 'Agadhbodh'- one of the 15 books written by the Paramguru. Like Bal Kuver, Mahi Beej is also celebrated at Gurugadi-the main seat of the Gnan Sampradaya, Sarsa. On Mahi Beej devotees of the Gnan Sampradaya donate money to the temple according to the Kuver Samvat. In 2011 it will be the 239th Kuver Samvat so each individual or family will donate 239 rupees to the temple. The donation recieved at Mahibeej is utilised for the purpose of education by the present Acharya Mahraj H.H. Avichaldasji Mahrajshri. Celebration of the Mahi Beej is one of the eight activities of the Gnan Sampradaya Kelavni trust set up by H.H. Shitaldaji Mahrajshri. The Sixth Kuveracharyashri H.H. Shitaldasji Mahrajshri gave the form of the Mahi Beej mahotsav and also explained the need and philosophy of the Mahi Beej celebrations. Lakhs of devotees express their faith in Paramguru by celebrating the Pragatya day Mahi Beej.
